At Travelbag, part of the Emirates owned dnata Travel, we've been creating holidays for over 35 years, and we've now established ourselves as a leader in the tailor-made holiday market.

We are now recruiting for a Sales Manager for our Winchester store to deliver a 'World Class' service to our diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for driving the store team to maximise revenue opportunities and deliver the agreed profit targets. This role requires previous travel industry experience and a hands-on approach as you will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of the store (banking, health & safety, local marketing etc).

Reporting into the Regional Sales Manager, you will be responsible for a team of 8, including an Assistant Manager. Hours are 37.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7.

Key Tasks

  • Manage the strategy to maximise revenue from a strong sales and customer service focus
  • Deliver the agreed levels of service and quality at all times ensuring targets and goals are achieved
  • Lead the team in a dynamic and inspirational manner
  • Implement, co-ordinate, manage and plan all sales activity and available resource and ensure the store is resourced to correct capacity in line with forecasted volumes
  • Operate strategically, with a ‘ thinking outside of the box’ approach
  • Work in partnership with the post-sales teams to ensure a high quality end-to-end service to the customers at all times
  • Drive sales performance through the creation, management and review of the Sales Incentive Plans within the store
  • Interpret and communicate sales information to the team
  • Ensure that all store progress reports and MI reports are delivered timely, highlighting successes and areas of concern with a proposed course of action
  • Deliver financial targets for the store by assuming full accountability for revenue generation, ensuring the optimum levels of resource in line with forecasted volumes
  • Pre-empt any caveats and barriers to success by on-going analysis of operations, taking appropriate action to resolve
  • Lead, develop and motivate direct reports by proactively identifying and delegating development opportunities to encourage succession planning
  • Lead, develop, train, assess, and manage all direct reports to meet operational requirements
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with senior staff
  • Develop the capability of key staff, evaluating performance on an on-going basis
  • Manage enquiries in accordance with company policy including timely responses and follow up

Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Extensive experience of working at a strategic level in an inbound Sales environment whether call centre or retail (preferred)
  • Sound operational management experience with a proven track record of adherence to schedules and achievement of SLAs
  • Previous travel industry experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management
  • Thorough understanding of resource optimisation and delivery
  • Excellent team player, with the ability to contribute and challenge, providing leadership and coaching opportunities within the scope of the performance management process
  • Resilient with the ability to overcome challenges to consistently meet and exceed targets
  • Inspirational leader who engages employees to achieve results
  • Ability to introduce meaningful and stretching KPIs and maintain focus on achievement of these
  • Excellent people management skills
  • IT literate  - good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint and travel systems
  • Ability to create dynamic and high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Excellent influencing skills at a senior management level
