With 50,000 subscribers, and shortlisted for a BSME award, Which? Travel is going places. And we need an experienced Senior Researcher/Writer to join us on this journey. Our mission is to inspire and inform our readers on all aspects of travel. Not only do we stand out as completely independent (that’s right, no freebies), we are also the only travel magazine that has a full-time investigations team.

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Researcher/Writer you’ll help deliver travel features for Which? Travel, Which? magazine and With a focus on travel advice and investigative journalism, you’ll pair excellent research skills and a nose for a story, with a real enthusiasm and drive to get to the bottom of the issues that are affecting travel consumers today. You’ll use your talent for turning your findings into clear accessible copy across both print and online.

This is a unique opportunity to uncover scams, rip-offs and unfair practices in the travel industry and hold companies to account. The quality of your investigative research and analysis will play a vital role in upholding our well-deserved reputation for fairness, thoroughness and reliability. This is primarily a desk-based role, but you will be required to use your networking skills to build external relationships with senior travel industry figures, and your varied approaches to investigative research may take you out-and-about to experience the travel industry through the eyes of the consumer.

What we are looking for

We need you to have:

  • Excellent print and online writing skills
  • Experience of writing advice features for a print publication, ideally for a travel magazine
  • Experience in designing and carrying out in-depth research and applying a range of research methods
  • Creativity and the ability to pitch new ideas as well as writing to brief
  • Strong project and time management skills, adept at juggling multiple projects to tight deadlines and always meeting deadlines
  • Solid analytical and research skills, including the ability to analyse research results and spot a story in data

Understanding of SEO and driving traffic and experience of using CMS software is desirable.

  • A background within Travel
  • Experience of writing for a consumer audience
