As Health and Safety Officer you will be required to identify, monitor and improve the Health and Safety issues within Virgin Holidays Group programme in order to ensure the safety and welfare of our customers.

Day to day

Approval and sign off of properties and other suppliers as acceptable for customer use within the Virgin Holidays programme from a Health and Safety perspective

To plan and carry out H&S audits of hotels and all facilities, excursions, transport and adventure activities

Correspond with suppliers notifying them of H&S deficiencies and negotiate deadlines for rectification of issues

Maintain accurate electronic and paper files following completion of H&S audits

Manage and coordinate Health and Safety projects

To manage co-ordination of joint auditing trips with other tour operators as required

Investigate illnesses, incidents and accidents to ensure issues are addressed to prevent re-occurrence and provide Virgin Holidays due diligence defence

Monitor CSQ illness scores and accident statistics, identifying trends and implement remedial actions

Support Virgin Holidays legal department with drafting witness statements and representing the brand in the event of legal proceedings as required

Write and deliver training presentations to all levels of UK staff, overseas staff and agents

Produce, review and update training manuals, procedures and guidance notes for UK staff, overseas staff, suppliers and agents

Attend relevant H&S training courses as required as part of personal development plan in order to keep abreast of current issues/changes in legislation, also any required training to allow for internal auditing of the department’s Quality Management System

To assist with general queries from internal departments, overseas offices and third parties

Formulate action plans for hotel managers based on consultant’s findings and follow up remedial actions with suppliers

Responsible for the development, delivery and auditing of the department Quality Management System in line with ISO:9001  

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will hold an advance Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Qualification with experience of working for a tour operator (preferred).

You will have exceptional organisational and communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and to set deadlines. With excellent attention to detail and good working knowledge of Microsoft office systems including word, excel and powerpoint you will be confident to work on your own initiative in frequent absence of Health and Safety Manager. If you have a training qualification this would also be beneficial.

TRAVEL
Travel overseas is an essential requirement for this job role, along with travel within the UK attending meetings, seminars and training courses when required. Full, clean driving licence is required as driving overseas is essential, UK maybe required
