This role focuses on the marketing of holidays, being the link between holiday Product teams and the Marketing and Sales teams.

The candidate will assess competitors, get to understand the product in detail, and ultimately supply offers and content to Group Marketing to ensure that the holiday product and offers are promoted effectively. The role is an important link between the areas of the business that will drive the planned growth of Monarch Holidays.  

Areas of responsibility

Merchandising of Holiday Content & Offers

  • Supply all holiday content to Marketing and Sales teams on a daily / weekly / campaign basis, across all marketing channels
  • Prepare briefs for Call centre and Trade teams on Product offers
  • Ensure all details around offer terms and conditions, lead prices and other campaign content is accurate, available and compliant with legal requirements.
  • Coordinate and update all web merchandising for holidays, including banners and pods, deals and product pages. Comply with brand guidelines, ensuring all offers are accurate and available.
  • Support with Tour Operator specific marketing activity (e.g. Lapland, Villas, Cities)
  • Undertake competitor analysis of holiday marketing (on and off-line, direct and trade)
  • Provide Product and Trade teams with product and price requests in a timely manner to allow sourcing of offers to deadlines
  • Competitor analysis on holiday websites to input to development agenda
  • Support the merchandising on the Trade Portal

Digital Development

  • Support the Merchandising Manager with coordination of Tour Operator digital development requirements, including scoping and collating evidence required for development briefs
  • Provide support with user acceptance testing as required
  • Support in the development of the Tour Operations content management systems

Customer Communications

  • Coordinate updates to Tour Operator automated customer communications
  • Coordinate and support with any requirements for overseas branding
  • Support in the  future developments of online self service activities
  • Actively monitor competitor post booking communications and feedback insight to the business

Value Proposition & Brand Guidelines

  • Advocate internally and externally all of the customer proposition messages for the tour operator
  • Ensure that all propositions are promoted in the right way and at the right time
  • Support in the research and development of the customer proposition
  • Maintain a log of all competitor propositions
  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring that all creative and campaign collateral is “on brand”

Search Engine Optimisation

  • Support the Group Marketing function to continually improve the “on page optimization” of Monarch’s holiday website content.
  • Coordinate and update any Tour Operator specific landing pages utilizing best practice SEO techniques
  • Support the content team in the optimization of Hotel pages

Knowledge & Experience:  

  • Experience of B2C marketing, ideally in travel, and/or experience in a tour operator, with daily/weekly contact with Marketing and/or Digital teams.
  • Work experience in marketing communications (print or digital)

Skills: 

  • Can demonstrate incredible attention to detail
  • Can demonstrate ability to work to tight and moveable deadlines
  • Strong analytically. A strong commercial awareness with numerical & analytical skills, able to analyse complex sets of data and distil trends.
  • Strong communicator, getting on with people and able to get across message in a succinct and positive way
  • Intermediate level on Word and Excel

Education/ Work Experience:

  • Degree level qualification preferred. Alternatively, “A” level’s (or equivalent) followed by a structured training programme in a travel business.
  • Work experience in marketing communications (print or digital)
  • Travel Industry experience, ideally in a tour operator
  • Experience of working in a team, including working in a multi-site environment
  • Some examples of deputising for a manger
