With the continuing success of our Trade Sales business, we are looking to recruit another Account Manager to join the team.  This role provides the successful applicant the opportunity to fully contribute to helping our agency partners achieve every sales opportunity they can.  You will have the opportunity to attend regular trade events and work closely with people across Newmarket and the broader travel industry.  There will be a considerable amount of travel involved so you will need to be able to drive and stay away from home when necessary.  If you are commercial, sales focused and love developing relationships with business partners then this could be the role for you.

Job purpose:

  • Fully contribute to achieving the retail sales strategy.  Ensuring our agency partners maximise their potential in terms of business generated, margin attainment and ongoing sales pipelines will be key to achieving and surpassing budgeted levels. Deliver profitable sales from the broad Newmarket portfolio Play a full, passionate and strategic role in fulfilling the commitments for the Regional Charter (RC) Programme Continually develop commercial terms and opportunities in the Travel Agency Sector Manage a coordinated field sales approach to deliver strategic goals covering the South and South East & West of England and Wales

Role accountabilities:

  • This is the “go to” person in the Company for all matters relating to the sales and marketing performance of their field sales area of responsibility. As such this person will be very exercised with the attainment of budgeted targets and raising the sales and profile via road shows, personal visits, marketing communications and new business acquisition
  • Establishing excellent working relationships with a range of partners at different levels including regular personal visits
  • Devising appropriate campaigns and sales approaches to maximise returns from this area of distribution, whilst adhering to a set marketing budget
  • Be fully aware of commercial deals with our Travel Agency partners at individual and group level, and to be at the forefront of any opportunities to further develop  commercial deals that drive the business
  • Be alive to competitor activity, feeding back information to the Sales, Product and other relevant teams as appropriate
  • Work closely with other Newmarket teams to ensure that the travel agents are receiving an excellent level of service.  A particularly close working relationship with our Sales Support team is essential to ensure support collateral is being provided as required
  • Ensure the appropriate range and volume of holidays is  distributed and marketed through our travel agency partners
  • Drive sales through all available channels (trade media partners, trade partners, shared advertisements, advertorials, editorials, e mail, on-line, presentations)
  • To suitably furnish the client base with their reporting and performance review reports as required
  • Constantly striving for new business opportunities and acquire new clients/partners for the company.
  • Regularly attend industry events, conferences, roadshows to aid business development and represent Newmarket Holidays
  • Host Newmarket events with agent partners
  • Attend Fam trips where necessary
  • Produce a weekly report on your activity incorporating competitor feedback

The successful candidate must:

  • be driven, sales-hungry and motivated by the attainment of high sales targets and able to demonstrate attainment of same
  • have an acute awareness of the business’ commercial imperatives and strategic goals (particularly in relation to our Regional Charter performance and targets)and clarity in implementing agreed initiatives to meet those goals
  • have experience of working in a business to customer and in a business to business sales environment (particularly in the Retail Travel Industry)
  • the ability to demonstrate effective collaboration and co-operation with other areas of the business
  • the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • An ability to demonstrate effective people skills
  • be self-motivated team player who is willing to get their “hands dirty” to ensure tasks are completed
  • have excellent presentation skills
  • have a proven track record of forging exceptional working relations 

and ideally

  • be proficient in MS applications with an aptitude for sales management systems/databases
  • a full UK driving licence
