Are you passionate about the travel industry? Do you have a tourism degree? Have you worked in travel sales? Are you looking for an exciting role in a progressive company which will allow you to use your sales and marketing skills and grow the room nights from the UK leisure industry for clients?

SLC Representation is a travel representation agency that specialises in sales and marketing.

We work as an extension of our clients (hotels and tourism products in Australasia, Asia, The Indian Ocean, The Middle East and Europe) sales and marketing teams. Working closely with UK tour operators, we maximise sales for our clients businesses by increasing their distribution, devising marketing campaigns, delivering training sessions, and advising on suitable strategies dependent on market conditions.

We are looking for a Sales Executive to join our team to work across a number of clients within our portfolio.

The Sales Executive will be required to:

  • Develop new distribution for our clients and source new business leads
  • Undertake significant business development calls to the UK travel trade to pitch our clients’ services
  • Research leads through a number of sources including online, travel press and by developing a personal network of contacts
  • Arrange and attend meetings with key industry decision-makers to present on our clients products
  • Secure new distribution via features in brochures and websites
  • Educate the travel trade through training presentations to travel agency staff
  • Develop PowerPoint training presentations for all clients and provide Travel Agent & Operator training
  • Travel extensively in the UK to deliver face-to-face and presentation style training (this can include up to 4 days travel per week)
  • Set up and deliver online training programs to homeworkers / via webinars
  • Source marketing opportunities
  • Work with tour operator partners to source marketing inclusions for our clients
  • Arrange for specific tactical offers to be promoted in these campaigns
  • Negotiate the best deal for our clients
  • Provide insight on market and competitor set
  • Gain insight of client competitor set to ensure clients are positioned correctly in the market
  • Suggest strategies to grow market share for clients’ vs competitor set
  • Feedback to clients on competitor offers, contracts and rates
  • Provide overview feedback on the UK travel market, trends, projections and geopolitical factors affecting the market
  • Build strong industry relationships  
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships with Product Managers, airlines, tourist boards and hotel representatives 
  • Leverage relationships to provide opportunities for clients, ensuring an ROI at all times
  • Organise in-market visits
  • Plan and manage a diary of meetings and training sessions when our clients come into market
  • Manage all logistics including travel and accommodation
  • Accompanying clients during their visit and managing the follow up
  • Manage events
  • Organising a range of events from lunches / dinners to appointment schedules
  • Coordinating of client visits to Europe/UK with itinerary, accommodation, transport & hospitality requests
  • Exhibit at relevant trade and consumer shows
  • Prepare meeting notes and appointments
  • Attend meetings and promote products at consumers shows, answering questions confidently and accurately whilst driving sales for our clients
  • Attend trade social events on behalf of our clients
  • Be available for out of hours’ social functions to assist in the building of industry relationships
  • Manage a travel budgets and provide detailed report
  • Organise airline tickets, train tickets, accommodation for all involved
  • Arrange travel visas as necessary
  • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports

Location: Wimbledon, London but with extensive travel throughout the UK and Ireland

Length of Contract: Permanent contract

Hours per week: 9am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday with a 1 hour lunch break (37.5 hour week)

There are times when due to the nature of the business you will be required to work overtime (i.e. for consumer shows, events etc). You may also need to work evenings and weekends. No payment will be made for these periods of time, but you may be given time off in lieu for weekend work.

Holiday: You will be entitled to 25 paid holiday days per calendar year

Starting salary: TBC

About you:

  • Be educated to degree standard – tourism degree -  preferable, not essential
  • Have worked as a travel agent or front-line sales person and be knowledgeable about the UK travel distributions systems -  preferable, not essential
  • Possess knowledge about Thailand and or Indonesia or S E Asia -  preferable, not essential
  • Understand how sales and marketing agencies operate and account management -  preferable, not essential
  • Have a confident and proficient telephone manner - essential
  • Possess outstanding written and oral communication skills - essential
  • Have excellent time management - essential
  • Be a confident presenter
  • Be a proactive team player who wants to make a significant contribution to a small business, and wants to forge a career in the travel industry - essential
  • Be passionate about travel and learning about other countries - essential

The role includes extensive travel throughout the UK, so the successful applicant must be able to spend up to 4 days per week out of the office, with overnight stays as required. Previous experience will be taken into consideration, but is not essential.
