We have an exciting opportunity in the NCL Business Development department for the post “Director of Business Development UK & Ireland”, based in our Southampton office:

BASIC PURPOSE

To ensure NCL (UK and Ireland) achieves revenue and PAX targets as per agreed company targets.

The Director of Business Development is fully responsible for all sales of the company’s products and cruises in UK and Ireland.

Key responsibilities include distribution, budget, yield delivery plus managing, motivating and driving the business development team to achieve targets.

The Director of Business Development will fully support the VP & Managing Director in developing the market place, and will actively work as one of the senior management team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and agree distribution strategy with VP & Managing Director that will deliver the volumes and revenue contribution targeted from the UK’s markets of responsibility.

Establish sales organization that has the robustness to deliver the market requirements.

Provide the sales team with strong direction and leadership.

Continually appraise and mentor staff to ensure they are performing to their maximize abilities, and the companies minimum requirements.

Based on distribution strategy, initiate and implement profitable key account management strategy and processes to ensure ongoing profitable growth for all key accounts.

Develop and agree a strong sales strategy that will ensure NCL is excellently positioned within the market place.

Continually review commercial terms and pricing strategies to reduce cost of sale and meeting changing demands of the business mix.

Develop a powerful and high profile presence within the travel industry both personally and for the company.

Develop relationships with all key travel industry partners at the most senior level.

Ensure the VP & Managing Director and key management have the right relationships with partners, associations and individuals within the market place.

Ensure all sales and travel industry marketing budgets are responsibly and accountably managed.

Recruit the right caliber of sales staff who will strongly represent the sales director and the company within the travel industry.

Develop and produce timely reports that are required to identify the company’s position and status against targets.

Lead negotiations and agree commercial contracts with the company’s business partners.

Partner with and develop strong working relationships with all NCL’s UK based business units. These include Marketing, Finance, Commercial and Passenger Operations.

Establish close working relationships with all appropriate partners within NCL’s head office and other global offices.

Research, analyze and provide ongoing review and appraisal of all competitor activity.

Ensure NCL has an appropriate presence at all relevant travel industry events, shows, meetings and associations.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Extensive experience in travel industry sales management at a senior level

Proven strategic sales success, with clearly identifiable commercial skills

Proven leadership skills and ‘Can Do’ attitude

Analytical and results orientated

Highly effective communication skills to manage key internal and external partnerships

Experience in large international organizations

Highly motivated and driven

Achieve success through team work and retains sense of fun

Flexible and creative individual

Commercially astute with good credibility

Focused and results orientated

Personal and business stature to strongly represent the company
