dnata Travel, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal, Travel 2, Netflights, Travelbag, Travel Republic, Global Travel Group and Sunmaster. These brands are based at offices across the UK including London, Kingston-upon-Thames, Chester, Preston, Halifax and Glasgow.

We are now recruiting for a Marketing Director to lead the marketing strategy for Gold Medal & Travel 2 through the delivery of a range of in-demand products and services for trade partners.  You will identify and exploit all opportunities for business growth through innovation and the implementation of a well-constructed and creative marketing strategy to ensure Gold Medal & Travel 2 remain market leaders.

The Marketing Director will work in collaboration with the senior team within B2B Europe to input into the overall business strategy, ensuring the marketing department plan is aligned to this and achieves/exceeds sales targets and overall profitability.

You will promote and deliver an extensive marketing strategy to trade partners; and to maintain focus on customer retention and acquisition through the quality, cost and range of our products, owning all brand and customer propositions. At all times, ensure marketing partnerships are built and maintained on the foundations of professionalism, high quality service and commercial viability.

You will lead, manage, develop and motivate a team of managers to achieve objectives across all trade distribution channels ensuring constant review of competitor activity and market changes to allow the business stay ahead of our competition.

Job Accountabilities

  • Support the MD – B2B, Europe in the design, delivery and execution of growth plans and distribution strategies with targets assigned to short, medium and longer-term plans and overall dnata Travel strategy
  • Shape, implement and lead the marketing strategy for all B2B brands
  • Lead creative concepts and define & deliver the marketing communications plans 
  • Drive innovation, new ways of communicating and new routes to market to exploit new opportunities for growth to increase market share
  • Maximise the support from external suppliers and partners to extend marketing budget & reach, deepen relationships and achieve trading targets
  • Ensure all collateral is designed in line with agreed brand propositions 
  • Represent the marketing function at senior level meetings, contributing and adding value to the to the overall strategy and plan
  • Ensure all current and future marketing opportunities are maximised to improve brand margin, increased sales and develop mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Direct the commercial and incentive propositions and negotiations across all B2B partners to maximise sales and profit
  • Lead the negotiation and delivery of preferential advertising rates via all marketing mediums
  • Assume full accountability for the marketing P & L 
  • Lead the team through the sharing of strategic aims ensuring there is clear direction and appropriate KPIs
  • Ensure team members have clear direction and skills to enable them to negotiate commercial terms with trade partners, JV contributions, marketing contributions etc
  • Drive group synergies to deliver targeted group profit
  • Collaborate with the Sales Director to drive and develop incentive programmes for trade partners to ensure agency partners select Gold Medal and/or Travel2 as the travel partner of choice
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to manage an effective brochure distribution strategy, designed to increase conversion
  • Lead the development of the brand training academy in conjunction with the Marketing team
  • Adopt strict control of the inward cash-flow, ensuring agencies are adhering to the terms of  agreement

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Marketing Degree
  • Post graduate or professionally accredited qualification would be an advantage
  • Proven delivery of award winning strategies within the field
  • Proven history of successful marketing within the Wholesale/ Tour Operation/ Travel Industry/B2B marketing
  • Several years’ operating at senior level marketing role, leading a team of marketing experts
  • Several years’ accountability for a substantially sized P&L ownership
  • An excellent track record of building relationships with & influencing trade partners and key  stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation skills at a senior level
  • Experienced leader of people in a multi-function environment, including management of a cross-site team
  • Excellent broader business acumen with the ability to analyse data and demonstrate a high degree of commercial acumen in decision-making
  • Strong and confident negotiator with supplier ‘win-win’ ethos
  • Creative communicator, able to vary style and delivery with different audiences whilst remaining convincing and authentic
  • Able to create and foster a culture of personal development and achievement to drive personal and business performance, creating a clear succession plan
  • Accomplished and confident presenter, comfortable with presenting to large audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with powerful ability to persuade and influence people, internally and externally, at all levels
  • Tenacity, integrity and drive to ‘make a real difference’
  • Lives the values of the organisation
  • Skilled at budget management/maximisation
  • A sound knowledge of the travel industry, including competitor activity
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined able to work on own initiative and contribute positively to the wider leadership team within the business
  • A sound practical knowledge of all technical selling systems
  • Ability to think strategically and implement short-term and longer-term departmental objectives
  • Strong work ethic with a real commitment to continuous improvement
  • Able and willing to travel extensively within the UK and overseas
  • Full Clean driving licence
