Perl Web Back End Software Engineer (Travel Industry)

Leading provider of travel technology services to the leisure travel and business travel industry is seeking a Software Engineer specialising in Web Back End to join their expanding team, to design and implement solutions to support the company's business systems. If you have solid experience of working with both Front and Back End Development, whilst using Perl, Javascript/Php and MySQL - then this could be the perfect role for you. JOB DESCRIPTION:
*Design and implement solutions to support business systems.
*Development for and maintenance of a Perl-based search and booking application for travel products booked through suppliers by the use of XML.
*The role also includes the associated cgi modules for the web front-end.
*Also provide Development and Operational support to complete software engineering projects
*Work with the development team to deliver our web based products to the customer base.
*Build and deliver work to specification and within deadlines agreed with the development manager.
*Use their own creativity to enhance and improve the look and feel of existing products and services.
*Keep up to date with programming news and technologies, and suggesting improvements where appropriate.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
*Extensive experience (5+ years) with OOP Perl delivered in a multi-server Linux and Apache environment.
*The ability to work alone and within a team to deliver given specifications to deadlines.
*3+ Years' Experience in front-end development with JavaScript/php and mySQL.
*Will have 5+ years development of Perl-based applications on LAMP environments.
*Ability and willingness to develop relevant cgi modules in php to improve extensibility of the application and make updates to the JavaScript font-end.

THE PACKAGE:
Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience, working office hours, Mon-Fri, Discretionary performance based bonus bi-annually. Excellent working environment and great career progression.
