An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Chief Operating Officer who has experience of working within the travel/aviation industry. Our client is a dynamic, extremely fast-growing business who are independently owned and have a global presence with its headquarters based in Cheshire. The group provides the travel industry with a range of solutions, from service to software to aid the travel and aviation industry. This company's success has been built on a combination of innovation, creative commercial acumen, some risk taking, a can do attitude and a lot of sheer hard work. As part of this company's ongoing growth plans they are now seeking to appoint a talented and dynamic operational leader in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer, to guide, lead, mentor and challenge in driving the business forward. This new role will be to provide strategic advice and apply commercial & operational expertise in support of business growth, cost effectiveness, maximising gross profit and minimising risk whilst maintaining a high level of service quality. You will be responsible for commercial effectiveness, corporate structuring and operational excellence.

The role oversees the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the client and supplier relationship is optimised, promoting the Group's commercial activity with a view to generating sustainable growth in revenues and profit. You will be required to:

*Set the vision, position the team and plan for over-achievement.
*Provide leadership and management of the operational departments - namely Tour Operator Partnerships including systems and support, Travel Agent Partnerships and Commercial.
*Articulate and intertwine our 'Customs' to ensure what we do is aligned to how we think.
*Champion change and innovation within the products, processes and services we provide.
*Develop and maintain strong working relationships with our airline partners and key customers.
*Establish a 'wow' approach so that all our customers love us.
*Monitor and control all operational budgets to ensure that the company has all the resources required to meet and exceed its objectives.
*Ensure that company operations comply with all legal requirements and meet agreed operational standards.
*Look ahead and manage risk in relation to the businesses' structure by providing for effective management succession for all internal operations.
*Maintain an effective working relationship with all other Heads of Department to ensure that there is effective co-ordination of all company activities and a culture of cooperation, communication and teamwork.
*Act as the main adviser on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of latest developments to ensure that the business maintains its competitive position.
*Lead from the front by demonstrating professional expertise across the business and to our customers.
*Have an appetite for 'getting hands dirty' with the team - achieving a balance of maintaining a strategic perspective as well as getting into the detail where appropriate.

Core Skills, knowledge and experience in:
*Performing at the highest levels of success and quality.
*Commercial acumen.
*Extensive experience in operations management.
*Significant experience of the airline & travel industry.
*People management skills including motivation, mentoring and development of key staff.
*Strong leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate team work
*Project management, change management and conflict resolution.
*Resource planning.
