Product Manager - Italy - Tour Operator - Surrey up to £33k

This well know Tour Operator is looking for a Product Manager for their Italian Ski and Lakes a& Mountains programme


Product Manager Italy - Job Purpose
As the Italy Product Manager you will be responsible the Ski and Lakes & Mountains programmes, ensuring that all areas of the product remain innovative, relevant and commercially viable. This pivotal, high profile role requires a determined and enthusiastic mind-set of personal 'ownership' of the operational and commercial success. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of ski and the lakes & mountains regions of Italy, the travel industry and a strong planning approach with excellent attention to detail. You will use customer and market insights to develop an innate understanding of the needs and motivations of their key customer demographic, working with Commercial and Finance to develop and maximise profitability of the programmes.

Product Manager Italy - Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the Profit & Loss of your programme, and achievement of annual passenger volume and profitability targets. You will drive the product planning process including bed contracting briefs, ensuring all new product suggested is properly vetted, recommending resorts and areas for volume growth or cuts and working with the Ops team on the aviation plan. Close liaison with the Commercial department is essential, with input into the pricing strategy at an individual accommodation level, with particular reference to competitor pricing strategies and tactics.
  • Champion all things Italy within the company, ensuring that all departments are appropriately trained on your products' USP's, and understand what is required of them to actively support the needs and commercial success.
  • Lead trading role for Italy, attending occasional trading meetings and constantly working closely with the Commercial & Yield teams to monitor sales and beds v. seats, and ensure an unbroken flow of bed-stock for sale, including special offers and late availability as required.
  • Working with Guest Services & Overseas, analysing the guest feedback to ensure they are delivering on their customer promise of consistently high quality.
  • Regular visits overseas to build & maintain required levels of detailed product knowledge, to establish personal & positive relationships with key suppliers, and gain in-depth operational understanding.
  • Working with Marketing & E-Commerce team to facilitate a major drive on the breadth and depth of our website content, including future use of peer review and customer reviews.
  • Development and innovation of existing and new ideas / resorts / properties, constantly striving to keep the product "fresh" and abreast of ever changing consumer & market trends.
  • Management of partner contracts received from contractor (inc. properties of all kinds, excursions, Learn to Ski Starter Packs etc.) and ensuring these represents excellent value.
  • Close liaison with the overseas operations office on all operational matters.


Product Manager Italy - Key Tasks

  • Ongoing Product Management - Regular training of Reservations team, using your passion for ski and Italy
  • Website Content & Brochure Production (working with Marketing teams)- Copywriting for the website and brochures
  • Sales & Marketing - Keep all members of the Agency Sales and Digital and Offline Marketing teams constantly aware of the programme and new product.
  • Management - Management and development of one Product Executive to ensure work is being completed at pace and to a good standard

Product Manager Italy - Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of ski and Italy lakes & mountains
  • Strong commercial acumen, with excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Goal orientated approach, and ability to drive results
  • Highly numerate and detail orientated, with strong analytical skills, particularly around customer and sales data, with ability to turn information into insight
  • Good communication & copy-writing skills
  • Effective influencing skills
  • Good Excel skills
  • Team-player, with ability to build and maintain strong, trusting, working relationships
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions and deliver to agreed deadlines
  • Flexible 'can do' attitude, and sense of urgency, ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to manage and develop any direct reports
