Job Description & Duties

Research, Design and Create - and Obtain Approval from Revealed Travel Directors for - a Strategic Business Plan to Develop and Build a Vietnam and South East Asia focused Brand and Trading division for Revealed Travel which will compliment Revealed Travel’s existing core Latin America focused trading brands and division.  

Be an internal and external brand champion and ambassador for Vietnam Revealed and South East Asia Revealed, and lead and manage Revealed Travel’s efforts to execute the above-referenced Business Plan - to seek to generate £1m+ p.a. worth of Vietnam and South East Asia related revenues and help meet Revealed Travel company sales targets for booking volume, booking value, and gross profit margin contribution and R.O.I. relating to Vietnam and South East Asia travel sales within agreed business plan budget expenditure.

Design and Price Travel Product Offerings and Itineraries – for Revealed Travel to sell and promote - serving Vietnam and South East Asia Travel Destinations – on both a country-specific basis and on a pan-regional basis across Vietnam and the wider South East Asia region i.e. Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia & Borneo, Singapore, and the Philippines.

Identify, assess for suitability, and select local in-country DMCs, Hotels, Transport Companies, Cruise Suppliers, Tour Providers, and Airlines in both Vietnam and the wider South East Asia Region with whom Revealed Travel can partner – and set up Contracts and Agreements with such partners relating to commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, service level agreements and health & safety for Revealed Travel to engage such partners as suppliers for their South East Asia related product and services.

Manage, develop, maintain and optimise the above-referenced Vietnam and South East Asia supplier relationships for Revealed Travel going forward - maintaining regular contact by phone, email and in person and arranging meetings with suppliers where appropriate both at Revealed Travel’s office in the UK and/or at the suppliers’ offices in South East Asia and/or via Skype video conferencing and/or at events such as World Travel Market in London or ITB in Berlin.     

Identify and develop Distribution Partners such as travel web sites, travel media, travel agents, travel consolidators, and other tour operators - to help generate 3rd party routes to market and sales of Revealed Travel’s South East Asia related travel services and products. Negotiate and put in place such Sales Distribution Agreements agreeing pricing and commercial and payment terms.

Identify potential alliance partners such as Tourist Boards, Embassies, Sales Representation, Travel PR and Advertising Agencies, Travel Media, Academia, Trade Associations - e.g. PATA the UK Pacific Asia Travel Association etc. - with whom Revealed Travel can cooperate to promote South East Asia as a travel destination, and project manage and initiate with them cooperative activities and joint promotions where relevant.

Monitor and produce internal sales and marketing and performance analysis reports relating to Revealed Travel’s South East Asia travel-related business, and then share findings and resulting recommendations with the wider Revealed Travel management and team as required.

Ensure knowledge of Vietnam and the South East Asia Travel Sector (including: destinations; products; key contacts; suppliers; competitors) is maintained and kept up-to-date and shared with the wider Revealed Travel team by:

  • Undertaking Market Research
  • Attending networking events at WTM, PATA, Tourist Boards, Embassies, Supplier Receptions
  • Meeting with Sales Representation from relevant DMCs, Hotels, Tour Companies, Transport Companies, Cruise Companies and Airlines
  • Going on periodic Familiarisation and Educational trips in the South East Asian region when relevant opportunities and a return on investment arises
  • Reading relevant travel trade media and social media and/or attending training courses

Provide coaching and training to Revealed Travel senior management, marketing and sales staff relating to Vietnam and other South East Asia travel products and Vietnam and other South East Travel destinations – to help Revealed Travel optimise sales for travel to Vietnam and the wider South East Asia region.             

Partner with Revealed Travel Senior Management and Revealed Travel Marketing Personnel and Consultants to design and develop and implement marketing strategies and marketing plans to promote South East Asia Travel to Revealed Travel’s target market via web SEO, PPC, digital adverts, social media, print adverts, email and database marketing, PR and Media Communications, networking, 3rd-party distribution, consumer travel shows, and referrals.

Man the Revealed Travel company stand and represent Revealed Travel and give presentations at Consumer Travel Shows e.g. Destinations, Daily Telegraph Travel Show, Wildlife Travel Show, Family Travel Show, the Dive Show, Rutland Bird Fair, Condé Naste Luxury Travel Fair etc. – to promote travel to Vietnam and South East Asia via Revealed Travel and to obtain sales leads for Revealed Travel.

Along with other Revealed Travel Sales Personnel respond to incoming client sales enquiries which have been submitted to Vietnam Revealed and South East Asia Revealed – via the following routes to market:-

  1. Telephone, Email, Social Media, Web site Enquiry Form or Web site ‘Live Chat’ Function
  2. Visitors to South East Asia Revealed stands at consumer travel shows and at travel events
  3. Networking and Referrals
  • Identify, qualify and clarify each client’s individual specific bespoke travel requirements – and thereafter research, design and source a tailored travel itinerary to match the client’s request - incorporating flights (international, regional and domestic), transfers (road, water, rail), cruise operators, accommodation, meal plans, and included tours/excursions/activities/sight-seeing and driver/guide services.
  • Submit to, and obtain from, local in-country DMCs and Suppliers itemised NET quote(s) for resulting relevant requested itinerary, and then liaise with DMC and Suppliers to amend and revise if required. Calculate Gross Retail Client Price and Produce resulting detailed Client Itinerary & Quote Document and Sales Proposal and send to client with positioning email to seek to convert enquiry to sale.
  • Undertake resulting subsequent sales negotiation and client liaison via telephone and email and/or face-2-face follow-up, as required – amending the itinerary and quote as needed (and including hosting any face-2-face client meetings, should the client request to attend our office, or meet with client externally where it is cost-effective to do so) – so as to close sales.
  • Complete bookings – securing and reserving required services from flight providers, DMCs, and approved suppliers; and undertaking related booking admin such as processing the Booking Form, collating client information, ATOL certificate, invoice, client receipts, confirmed itinerary, and travel documents/e-tickets etc. – and maintain client and booking records as required.
  • Help trouble-shoot in partnership with local ground teams and DMCs and in-country partners any in-country problems clients experience when on any Vietnam and South East Asia trip booked via Revealed Travel. Follow up with clients to ensure client satisfaction, network for repeat bookings, referrals and recommendations and to secure positive client testimonials.

As the Revealed Travel South East Asia Business Development function and workload grows if the R.O.I warrants and justifies recruit and manage additional staff and build a team to support the Business Development Manager deliver on all the duties and responsibilities and targets described above.

From time-to-time as required support the wider Revealed Travel team with work relating to sister Revealed Travel brands for Central America and South America, and with serving other worldwide travel destinations served via parent brand Revealed Travel.

From time-to-time as required contribute to wider Revealed Travel management and team efforts relating to general Communications, Team Work, Office Management and Booking System/CRM maintenance for the wider Revealed Travel business as a whole.
