Commercial Sales Manager. Winner of numerous accolades, this very successful and established tour operator is offering a highly Commercial role with a focus on driving profitability of the business and successfully designing and delivering a sales strategy to achieve the company’s goals and financial targets. Reporting directly to the MD, the Commercial Sales Manager role is at the heart of our client’s business and must work with management to drive the business forward. To succeed in the Commercial Sales Manager role, an understanding of our client’s customers, their needs and behaviours is essential to deliver an effective sales strategy and develop the product offering.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To develop and execute the sales strategy to achieve the annual sales budget
  • Key involvement in agreements for ongoing and new accommodation and flying contracts to ensure they support the strategy of the Group
  • Responsible for yield reporting
  • To maximise profitability by setting optimum prices for holidays and reviewing booking profitability
  • Weekly sales reporting analysis, providing insight and recommendations as to how the company can improve performance
  • To develop a strategy which streamlines and improves weekly sales reports and to establish KPIs that align with the company goals
  • To set sales and ancillary income targets
  • To analyse conversion review and efficiency of the call centre and website traffic
  • Management of Sales and Service Manager
  • To motivate and develop sales team and align sales goals to that of the company
  • Appraisals/performance reviews with direct reports
  • This job description cannot be exhaustive due to the peculiar nature of the tourism industry; the job holder may be required to carry out tasks as specified by the Senior Management

Abilities & Skills:

  • Previous tour operator/travel experience as a mid to senior Sales/Commercial Manager with a sound understanding of yield, marketing and how its activities convert into bookings
  • Proven track record of achieving targets and driving sales growth in a business
  • Rational and decisive, have a calculated and deliberate mind-set with influencing skills
  • Strong fundamental understanding of tour operator KPIs, the ability to demonstrate strategic capability and commercially astute
  • Strong understanding of excel and confident manipulating data and presenting information to Managing Director
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire teams
  • Present a ‘can do’ attitude, confident and professional with a calm demeanour, organised, self-starter

Key Relationships:

  • Head of Finance, Sales and Service Manager, Flights Operations Manager, Reservation Systems Manager and Website Manager
