Head Chef

We are looking for an experienced Head Chef to join our busy team at Berkeley Heath Enterprises to work in GRAZE café at Cattle Country, and our wedding venue, The Barn at Berkeley.

We’re proud to offer a farm-to-table menu to all of our customers; many of the dishes are made using produce from right here on Berkeley Heath Farm, and other local suppliers too.

GRAZE was opened in 2020 for visitors to Cattle Country during weekends and school holidays, but it is also now open during the week and as a weekend takeaway.

The Barn at Berkeley is a well-established wedding venue which has undergone significant refurbishments in the last year and we are reopening this summer with a new menu.

If you’re looking for opportunities in a brand new cafe and kitchen with great working conditions, and straight shifts then this role is for you.

Duties will include:

- Preparation of all items on our menu

- Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen

- Directing junior kitchen staff and sharing your knowledge and passion for the food we serve

- Deputising for the Executive Chef when needed

- Maintaining strict hygiene standards and ensure that all Food Safety requirements are met

Job Requirements:

- Experience of working in a similar environment

- Smart, professional, and knowledgeable about our menu

- Highly organised, with a friendly, calm and confident manner

- A passion for cooking and an interest in using local, seasonal produce

- Enjoy working as part of a team - A flexible approach and able to work additional hours when required

- You must be available to work at weekends and throughout the school holidays

Reporting to our Executive chef, this position is initially being offered as a six month contract and full-time and part-time hours will be considered.
