The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle is seeking someone special to join our team as Head Housekeeper.

Located 45 miles north of Inverness near the historic town of Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands, The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle is one of the world’s finest residential clubs. The Skibo estate was once the summer home of philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and nestles in 8,000 acres of woodland, moor and lochs.

Welcoming 400 member families from around the world and employing 180 staff, the club boasts 21 guest rooms in the castle and a further 12 Lodges, combining 32 bedrooms dotted around the estate.  The housekeeping department therefore has responsibility fora collective total of 53 bedrooms plus public areas in both the castle and clubhouse.

About the Role

The Housekeeping department at The Carnegie Club is about much more than simply dusting. It provides our members with the ultimate home-from-home experience through everything from family photos and jars of home-baked shortbread by their bedside, to their preference of duvet or bedsheets. The caring attention to detail of our team makes our members feel unique, valued and eager to return.

Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Head Housekeeper ensures the highest levels of service and hospitality are provided by the team of full time and part-time staff to members and guests through housekeeping, laundry services and in-house floristry.

Responsibilities

As Head Housekeeper, you will oversee the day to day running of the department, with operational support from the shift supervisors. This includes stock control, administration of risk assessments and other relevant health and safety documentation, in-house laundry services and staff management, such as rotas, time management, training and development.

On a daily basis, you will work alongside the team to ensure all assignments are completed, including special tasks in response to guest requests. You will liaise with the Property Management team to ensure maintenance tasks are carried out in a timeous manner and you will keep the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across the club at all times.

Required Skills & Experience

You are a confident, diligent leader who is skilled at motivating your team to provide the very best in customer service, whilst being hands-on yourself. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work proactively, and you are very organised. Housekeeping is your passion, and you are enthusiastic and approachable.

You have strong computer skills and are comfortable with general administration tasks.

You would be joining a team of fully focused managers who thrive on providing great service with an empathic approach to both team members, club members and guests, as well as those that support us with external services.

In addition to this role, we also seek Housekeeping Supervisors to assist the Head Housekeeper in the day to day running of this dynamic department.
