This is a new and very special role supporting the Head Chef in a unique and exciting high quality cafe and go-to destination with a real focus on local and ethical food provenance and reducing environmental impact. Situated in the northern Lake District between Keswick and Cockermouth, this substantial cafe and event destination is already attracting huge interest from tourists, passing contractors, locals and specialist groups.
Following the restoration of a derelict train station and the acquisition of a full-size replica train, formerly a famous filmset, the venue has already attracted a huge amount of interest and has featured on TV, radio, local and regional publications and in a number of specialist magazines.
Opening mainly daytime but with some special evening events, the work life balance and future prospects are excellent with rotas that will be both considerate and fair.

This role would suit a chef de partie seeking their first Sous chef role or a Sous Chef looking for a new challenge in their career. This position would be ideal for a chef who has a proven track record of working in a fresh food operation. knowledge of current kitchen regulations is also essential for this role.
The successful candidate will appreciate this unique and exciting opportunity and will have the experience to deliver the highest possible quality of service and food. Part of a small team, all positions advertised to date have proven to be highly sought-after and it is likely that the successful applicant will understand the important contribution that they can bring to the role. Previous experience is essential however finding the right person is equally important as they will be a key member of a tight-knit team.
