The environment: Harrow School is situated within a beautiful site in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world, with around 830 boys studying at Harrow. The School’s Catering Department has over 60 staff led by the Director of Catering, the Catering Manager and the Executive Head Chef, supported by a large kitchen brigade, catering assistants and kitchen porters. The team produces over 3,000 meals per day during term time and over 25,000 packed meals per year. The School also caters for sports teas, open days, parents’ meetings, departmental dinners, working lunches, and provides high-end hospitality for events such as wedding receptions and conferences.
The role: You will run all aspects of Harrow School’s internal and external catering events, such as breakfasts, canape drinks receptions, VIP lunches/dinners, afternoon teas and weddings in various locations across the Harrow School estate. Collaborating with colleagues, you will ensure that all hospitality services are customer focused, delivered efficiently, within budget and in line with the highest catering service standards. The role is very hands-on and involves managing the hospitality team, addressing staffing matters, event planning, financial reporting, wine purchasing and stock control. The skills: You will have an excellent grounding of working in a front-line, customer-facing, fast-paced workplace, with highly developed organisational skills so that you can deliver exceptional dining experiences. You will use your knowledge of high-end environments and your excellent communication skills to guide and motivate your team, and will support the Director of Catering with accurate budgets, rotas and efficient operational planning.
