CATERING SUPERVISOR

Average of 40 hours per week worked over 5 days out of 7 across a 3-week rota,
including evenings and weekends. Split shifts may be required.  Term time only, 36 weeks per year

Salary: £19,753 (pro rata of £ £24,801 FTE)

The environment: Harrow School is situated within a beautiful site in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world, with around 830 boys studying at Harrow.  The School’s Catering Department has over 60 staff led by the Head of Catering, the Catering Manager and the Executive Head Chef, supported by various chefs and kitchen porters. The team produces over 3,000 meals per day during term time and over 25,000 packed meals per year. The School also caters for sports teas, open days, parents’ meetings, departmental dinners, working lunches, and provides high-end hospitality for events such as wedding receptions and conferences.

The role:  You will assist the Catering Manager and Hospitality Manager with the day-to-day operations of the varied catering needs of all the venues throughout the school’s large estate. With the Catering Manager and other Catering Supervisors, you will organise, lead and motivate a diverse team of 20-30 full, part-time and casual catering assistants, overseeing their workloads, quality of output and wellbeing. 

The skills: You will have experience of working in a front-line, customer-facing, fast-paced workplace, with highly developed organisational skills so that you can plan and prioritise to meet deadlines. You will have a flair for providing a first-class, memorable customer service, using your excellent communication skills and calm, welcoming demeanour to ensure that staff, colleagues and clients have an optimum experience.
