New Opening - Margate

Beautiful 18th century iconic building – Small privately run hotel, restaurant & bar

Seeking General Manager to direct the opening and execute the management of a new venture in Margate.

A 14 bedroom seafront hotel and restaurant in a fully restored landmark building of great historical significance, being one of the last buildings in the area the artist JMW Turner would recognise today. An establishment set to become a vital feature of this vibrant, artistic town, the hotel overlooks the Turner Contemporary art gallery and Turner’s favourite view of the sea.

A wonderful opportunity for anyone looking to escape from city life. Margate is a rapidly emerging and popular seaside destination with strong artistic and gastronomic connections. It is close enough to London and yet provides a refreshing and more peaceful alternative.

Responsibilities

  • Management, coordination and execution of preopening and opening phases of the hotel & restaurant. (setting up operation manuals, stocks & inventories, bookings systems, licencing, health & safety training etc. )
  • Day-to-day management of hotel & restaurant operations and of financial performance.
  • Day to day management and care of reservations and the quality of guest experiences.
  • Initiative in forecasting, budgeting and reporting for the hotel. (working alongside accountancy)
  • Staff recruitment, training and development.

Requirements:

  • First-hand experience in hotel openings as well as related operations.
  • Essential to have proven experience managing a similar style of property. (i.e.: able to efficiently manage a hotel’s operation while also nurturing and preserving the intimacy and personality of a private house)
  • An engaging, friendly and enthusiastic personality with a passion for providing a great guest experience and with acute attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong food and beverage background
  • All round knowledge of front office, sales and marketing
  • The ability to motivate and inspire a work team to deliver exceptional guest experience.

Benefits

  • Includes meals while on shift
  • Discount rooms for friends & family (depending on season & occupancy)
  • Discretionary bonus upon completion of opening
