Light Blue Travel are looking for an experienced Travel Consultant with particular knowledge in dynamic packaging and cruise, to join their young and growing team based in Cambridge.

The main role is to drive sales and provide exceptional high levels of customer service whilst dealing with all incoming booking enquiries and passenger services queries via telephone, email and website. They must demonstrate the ability to build a natural rapport with customers over the telephone and provide an efficient and professional service. The Travel Consultant must take pride in their work and have the ability to tailor make packages to long-haul destinations, booking all aspects of travel including multi-sector itineraries. Offering expert advice and personal recommendations whilst identifying sales/revenue generating opportunities will be a key role. Travelport/Galileo GDS experience or equivalent is essential as well as a good knowledge of cruise. The successful candidate will also be required to learn our in-house CRS system. Basic working hours are 37.5 hours a week, based on 9am – 5.30pm (including a flexible working rota for Saturday’s). There will be times when employees may be required to work additional hours and so a flexible attitude is vital. The position is based in our Cambridge office and employees may also be required to participate in product training and familiarisation abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming booking enquiries and passenger service queries
  • Handling all booking reservations and customer administration follow up
  • Dynamic packaging for bespoke customer proposals
  • Outbound sales calls – enquiry follow up
  • Co-ordinating internal sales administration
  • Diligent note taking on CRM
  • Handling customer payments and chasing monies due
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities and additional revenue opportunities
  • Build a great rapport with customers, before, during and after the sales process
  • Pursue and drive revenue growth in line with the business’s aim whilst meeting a variety of sales targets/goals
  • Keep up to date with all company's products, campaigns and services through self-learning, completing online training courses and attendance at training events
  • Attend educational overseas trips and provide feedback to colleagues
  • Deliver exceptional customer service standards whilst maintaining customer care policies and procedures
  • Other duties deemed relevant to the role

Experience & skills required

  • Min 5 years travel experience using Travelport/Galileo GDS or equivalent and cruise knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge & ability to provide tailor-made services
  • Good working knowledge of and, ideally, personal experience of long-haul destinations in particular USA
  • Natural ability to build a rapport with customers over the telephone
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and committed approach

  • Shows ability to work under own initiative
  • A passion for cruise or travel
  • Ability to identify and act on customer's buying signals
