The Core is a thriving multi-purpose venue and flagship community building in the heart of Solihull town centre.  Comprising the Library, Solihull Connect, The Core Theatre, Studio, Courtyard Gallery, and our dining facility ENCORE.

This busy venue provides a range of services and hosts a varied mix of professional, community and amateur events including exhibitions, music, drama, comedy and dance. Open for business across the whole week, this is a thriving, successful venue with loyal and supportive customers.

The Encore Café and Bar is at the heart of the venue and therefore we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our dedicated management team to lead and develop our catering offer and help us continue to provide the high standards of service expected by all our customers.

In this busy and varied role you will not only be involved in the overall day to day management of The Core Café and Licenced Bar but will also have the opportunity to work as part of the wider team across the whole venue; helping us seek out new and creative ways to expand the services we offer and generate new income streams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a proven track record of managing a multi-purpose venue within a catering or hospitality environment.  Highly organised you will have the ability to work at pace, able to schedule and plan resources to ensure the venue runs smoothly, to manage and support a team of staff and communicate clearly your understanding of what excellent customer service looks like.

In return, you will be part of a friendly team where you will have the opportunity to shape and improve the services we offer

We also offer:

  • A competitive salary.
  • Generous leave entitlement (which rises with continuous service) including the potential for flexi leave up to 24 days per year. The opportunity to buy up to 10 additional days’ annual leave per year.
  • Family and Carer friendly policies.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service
  • Attractive staff discounts and benefits including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Due to the nature of the role you will be required to work weekends, evenings and bank holidays, however we are able to offer you flexibility in the working hours to achieve a work-life balance.

If you have a specific question regarding this post, please contact Felicity Page, The Core Manager, on 0121 704 6813 or email fpage@solihull.gov.uk or Lawrence Smith, Arts Programme Manager at  lawrencesmith@solihull.gov.uk .

Interviews will be held week commencing 3rd January 2021.
Please note we do not accept CVs.
