Food and Beverage Manager
An incredible opportunity to join an award-winning, family-owned wedding venue in the Kent countryside. The Old Kent Barn has won several regional and national awards since opening in 2006 and is now searching for a key individual to support the business.

As Food and Beverage Manager you will be an integral part of the team, ensuring our renowned service levels are driven to even greater heights. We cannot wait for you to start.

General Responsibilities and Duties

In return we’re looking for an incredibly motivated, autonomous, team player who can lead, train and inspire the food and beverage team, ensuring they perform their duties and responsibilities to the highest standards possible. You will be working closely with the Head Chef and Coordinators on a daily basis and meet regularly with the Managing Partners.

  • Training, developing and nurturing the team with positive leadership and a 'hands on' approach
  • Creating and maintaining monthly rotas – you will be supported in this duty, but you will be the main person responsible
  • Advancing our existing procedures and processes at the Bar and Kitchen to a higher level. This includes developing and implementing new systems to make the bar and front of house operates more effectively
  • Ensuring responsible service of alcohol policies are implemented and maintained
  • Be uncompromising where standards are concerned
  • Maintaining standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and bar as well as ensuring ancillary service areas and storage are well kept, stocked and presentable
  • Training and managing Front of House Callers for weddings and occasionally take on this role for weddings and events
  • Making sure all food, health, and safety regulations are adhered to
  • Managing inventory and continuously make necessary improvements
  • Ensuring equipment (including but not limited to tables, glassware, crockery, cutlery) are kept clean, in working order and maintained and serviced as required
  • Assist with cleaning, setting up and other general requirements
  • Building strong relationships with our suppliers
  • Ultimately, we want you to ensure couples, and their guest’s, expectations are exceeded.

Skills and Qualities

  • Exceptional time management, leadership and delegation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good understanding of financials
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices including allergies
  • Practical knowledge of Epos systems and other point of sale tech
  • Report sales results and productivity reports to leadership team and ability to provide regular reports to the Partners
  • Good IT skills so you can hit the ground running on our CRM, plus experience with sales reporting
  • A true passion for Food & Beverage, attention to detail and guest experience
  • Ability to remain calm and focused

Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role, (ideally in banqueting)
  • Experience of managing large teams within hospitality, ideally across multiple areas of a business in busy environments
  • Be knowledgeable of the alcohol licensing guidelines and ideally have a personal licence
