The role is based at Parklands, Birmingham but may involve home working, travel to other Compass sites and engaging with third party suppliers.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Analyse operational issues & problems and provide sound, timely and creative solutions, often whilst under pressure of time, identifying associated risks and appropriate mitigation plans
  • Support of Compass Group UK and Ireland server hardware and software
  • Third line support and administration for end user compute Operating Systems and software
  • Provide escalated support and appropriate system administration as required 
  • Testing disaster recovery processes
  • Implementation and management of security policies
  • Ensuring access controls and data integrity
  • Build and maintain required environments using defined processes
  • Ensure all service components are administrated, maintained and documented in accordance with department standards
  • Ensure adherence to all defined standards for Incident, Change and Problem Management, including the effective transition of new infrastructure services
  • Improve, maintain and support key performance reporting data
  • Monitoring performance and availability of the applications and services
  • Identification of potential issues and their resolution
  • When trained, provide out of hours stand by support for the infrastructure environment

Hands on experience of administering (1 year +) the below:

  • Current Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Windows Desktop Operating Systems
  • Active Directory, including Group Policy
  • System Centre Configuration Manager, Operating System Deployment, Application Deployment, Patching
  • Strong technical documentation skills with ability to summarise technical issues or proposals in non-technical language when required.
  • Experience / understanding of IT security fundamentals
  • Good understanding of technical problem management, being able to apply logical component failure analysis to ensure efficient and timely resolution of issues.
  • Proactive seeker of emerging technologies, maintaining professional knowledge and skills and identifying new technical solutions and trends.
  • Hands on experience of the below:
  • WINS, DNS, IIS, SQL & Terminal Services
  • Office 365
  • Azure services
  • AWS Services
  • Anti-Virus services
  • Good knowledge of the ITIL framework
  • Relevant Microsoft or AWS certification
