Junior Data Analyst

The Data Analyst will work within the Commercial Team to manage and produce data analysis and day-to-day reports.  These insights and tools enable NHS Supply Chain: Food to deliver market-leading category strategies and procurements, driving savings and quality standards for patient feeding across the NHS. 

In this role, you will be delivering against multiple stakeholder requirements, therefore you must be an organised and efficient individual, able to prioritise multiple demands and operate at pace.  You will have a collaborative approach with the ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues across the business.

You will be extremely competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulae.  You will have exceptional analytical skills and strong attention to detail, taking pride in the quality of your work.

  • Taking large amounts of raw data from multiple sources, cleansing, collating, and categorising ready for upload to a Data Warehouse systems (Cognos)
  • Identify any data issues and communicate them to the relevant teams or to suppliers with a view to rectifying to ensure data accuracy and validity
  • Create customer-facing switching templates using the collated and cleansed data to identify savings opportunities
  • Working with BI reporting tools such as Cognos BI, Power BI, or equivalent to maintain and develop insightful dashboards and commercial reporting templates.  Understanding and interpreting data to drive actionable insights to achieve commercial and strategic business objectives
  • Running monthly customer and client-facing dashboards and reports to support in driving business performance and achieving internal growth and savings targets
  • Work cross-functionally with our procurement, account management, and finance teams to understand their needs and be able to identify and deliver effective analytical and reporting solutions
  • Providing ad-hoc data analysis for various stakeholders across the business

Essential

  • Exceptional numeric and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate large volumes of information and data from multiple sources
  • Advanced spreadsheet and Microsoft Excel experience
  • Ability to operate at a fast paced, highly commercial level
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise multiple work streams within tight timescales
  • Creative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset

Ideal, but not essential, is an understanding of BI systems such as Power BI or Cognos BI.
