Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of 820 pupils; 719 boys aged 11 – 18 and a further 101 girls in the co-educational sixth form. The School is located on a beautiful 46 acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.

The School employs more than 170 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff, and provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical, and creative potential.

We have an exciting new role for a highly motivated, experienced Domestic Manager to join the Bursary team to oversee and ensure the full range of domestic services and events are planned, co-ordinated and delivered to high standard across the School.

This role covers four key areas of the school; foremost, managing the Housekeeping team; soft facilities management; supporting the Events Coordinator with delivery of internal and external events; supporting the Assistant Bursar with managing the outsourced catering provision.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively plan and organise their own demanding workload and direct reports; use their own initiative to deliver on time critical tasks.

Previous experience working in a similar role such as Housekeeping, Hospitality, Event or Facilities Management, particularly in a school environment would be desirable, but not essential.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week from 09:00 to 17:00/10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday with a 30-minute break for lunch.  You will be entitled to 25 days’ paid holiday per year, plus public holidays.

On occasions the role will entail work during evenings and weekends to support internal and external School events.

We offer an exceptional working environment and an attractive rewards package, including excellent benefits such as a pension scheme with 8% employer contribution; free meals; extensive staff discounts; tax saving cycle to work and car leasing schemes; free sports and leisure facilities; Employee Assistance Programme; and a strong commitment to professional development.
