Hospitality Manager 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Hospitality Manager  Manager to join our team at RM Bassingbourn

As the Hospitality Manager , you will be overseeing the daily running of both the Officer's and Sergeant's Messes, ensuring that they are running smoothly as well as meeting and exceeding KPIs and SLAs set by our client.

What is a Mess? In military terms, a Mess is where the military personnel eat, sleep, hang out and hold functions. So as Compass Group, we provide catering, cleaning, hospitality, retail, and other soft facilities services onsite.

As Mess Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, monitoring and updating all appropriate food safety and health and safety paperwork to the required standards imposed
  • Ensureing that all appropriate HSE Information, instruction, training and supervision is provided to all employees within your control to enable them to carry out their work safely and effectively
  • Ensuring all HSE incidents/ near misses are reported and investigated within the set timeframe in line with company policy and procedures
  • Leading and managing the delivery of all company profit protection procedures within the mess and share best practice with other colleagues
  • Managing the process of all accommodation bookings via the nominated systems and accommodation booking clerks, ensuring that all requests are actioned in line with service requirements
  • Providing accurate costings for all functional activity to the client in a timely manner
  • Planning, organising and delivering all service requirements to the specification of the client whilst maintaining contractual guidelines
  • Producing a monthly/4 weekly roster whilst adhering to the labour budget assigned
  • Controlling all stock levels within the mess
  • Managing all labour costs effectively and within the designated budget
  • Conducting regular team meetings and provide essential business information/updates
  • Conducting and managing annual appraisals, 1:1 performance reviews and mid-term reviews
  • Proactively develop and continually improve all client relationships.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in the hospitality and catering sector
  • Experience in managing people/teams
  • Understanding and good working knowledge of GPs and KPIs
  • The ability to conduct training and enforce policies and procedures
  • A proven productive and proactive work ethic
  • Previous Contract Catering Management experience
