We are pleased to be able to announce that Ambassador Cruise Line is looking for a full-time Port Operations Executive. The Port Operations Executive is a key member of the team who will contribute to the successful development of a new cruise brand. Reporting to the Head of Destination Management & Chief Operating Officer, the purpose of the role will be to work closely with our appointed Ship Management company for port operations and support to the fleet, ensuring all critical information is available and delivered to deadlines. The role requires strong commercial awareness and a flexible, methodical and organised approach.

The role will be located in our head office in Purfleet, Essex, Monday to Friday (09:00-17:30). An element of working from home can be considered. Salary: depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and maintain Ambassador Port Operations processes and guidelines manuals and appendices.  Coordinate accurate port services information and documentation required by the fleet. Identify, evaluate and present competitive reviews of Port agents/Ports. Maintain budget projections and cost efficiencies for all ports. Check accuracy of presented accounts and all end of cruise documentation relating to port operations. Review and report on relations with appointed Port Agents/Ports including negotiation and performance whiles striving to reduce costs. Regularly review the operational productivity of Port Operations. Ensure all required material relating to port operations is produced to deadlines, checked and accurate prior to delivery. Maintain frequent communication and monitoring of Port Agents/Ports during planning and implementation. Monitor and understand the restrictions on cruises and liaise closely with Guest Services and the on-board team. Assist the HOD & COO with preparation for site inspections, selected conferences, associate functions, and industry events. Take part in any other activities for the company which may or may not be related to the Port Operations Department.

Key Attributes:

  • Experience within the shipping and cruise industry and in a port operations role. Knowledge of worldwide cruise destination and port operations. Excellent research skills and strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines. Excellent ability to communicate effectively through all levels within the organisation and with local suppliers. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes. Fluent in English written and spoken, minimum requirement. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to support colleagues with department priorities.
