An exciting opportunity awaits a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to become an integral part of our small and dedicated team. Join us at Gapforce, a leading tour operator with 35 years of experience, as we embark on a journey to elevate our sales to new heights. We're seeking a senior sales professional with a passion for travel to help us expand our footprint, increase sales of existing overseas trips, and play a pivotal role in venturing into new markets.

The Role:
As our Sales Manager, you’ll be instrumental in boosting sales for our group tours and tailor-made packages. This role involves promoting and selling our range of group programs and courses, as well as crafting and selling bespoke packages to private groups, including schools, universities, and special interest groups. Your responsibilities include new business development, lead generation, prospect qualification, sales proposal preparation, and meeting sales targets. As part of our small but growing team, you’ll also collaborate with the Managing Director and General Manager to devise and implement strategies for market expansion.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Achieve sales targets set by the company
•    Source new business from both UK and international markets, employing a range of sales methods
•    Lead a small sales team
•    Liaise with clients to establish itinerary and budget requirements for custom group trips
•    Collaborate with the operations team and overseas partners to create and update itineraries and budgets
•    Represent Gapforce at various events, including fairs, presentations, conferences, and networking gatherings
•    Effectively communicate company values, mission, and operating standards to all stakeholders

Additional Responsibilities Include:
•    Ensure timely and high-quality communication
•    Contribute to the company’s marketing strategy by identifying customer trends, competition status, and growth opportunities
•    Maintain detailed notes on prospects using the company CRM
•    Perform other ad hoc duties as required

Skills & Experience: 
This role is ideal for a seasoned salesperson with 5+ years of experience and a proven track record of success, ideally in the travel or tour operations sector. 

Key skills and experiences include:
•    Proven experience in a similar sales or client relationship management role
•    Strong understanding of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
•    Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
•    Able to thrive in a small business environment where you are both strategic and hands-on

•    Broad knowledge of commercial aspects relating to branding and marketing
•    Understanding of the different components of delivering an overseas trip
•    Previous sales experience in the education or youth travel market
•    Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite

•    Proactive, confident, and outgoing nature
•    Commercial awareness and ability to identify strategic opportunities
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Comfortable with technology

Salary & Benefits:
•    Salary: £35,000 per annum plus £10,000 OTE (uncapped)

Contract type:
Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week

Hybrid – London and homeworking. The typical work pattern is 4 days from home and 1 day in central London office per week. In addition, there will be regular UK-wide travel and occasional international travel for sales related meetings and events.  

Hours of Work: 
Standard office hours are Monday – Friday, 9.30 am – 5.30 pm. Occasional evening, overnight, and weekend work may be required for key work-related tasks.
