This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in our Whitwell-on-the-Hill office. Due to the beautiful remote location, access to your own transport is essential. This is a full-time position, however work life balance is important to us and so we are open to discussion on flexible working patterns (minimum 4 days per week).


As Head of Commercial, you’ll have a critical role to play in ensuring that we meet our ambitious growth targets. We plan to treble the size of the business over the next 5 years, and we are well on our way to embedding the talent, technology, and processes to see us achieve this. As a member of the General Management Team (GMT) of the business, you’ll also play a significant role in our overall leadership, help to ensure that we hit our company targets to halve our CO2 emissions by 2030 and be part of a
business ensuring that we maintain our exceptional customer service scores and employee engagement.

Working alongside the Managing Director and other GMT members, you will lead the development of the Commercial team and collaborate across the business to help align our commercial activities and beat our budgeted targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the business meets its ambitious Vision 2030 goal - to treble the revenue of the business over the next 5 years.

Leading the Commercial function, that encompasses the Commercial, Inventory and Data teams, you will set the commercial strategy and instill a true commercial focus within the business (to match the awesome customer focus we already have). Teamwork is essential, and you’ll be able to inspire action throughout the business with your ability to spin data into stories and actionable outputs. With your team, you’ll continue the progress we have made to date formalizing our commercial processes, building out PowerBI reporting, and turning data into useful insights and narrative that engage the team and drive action. As a margin rich organization, we are keen to ensure our margin management processes are efficient, and supportive of our long range plan (LRP).

You’ll work closely with our Finance leaders to understand and input into the budgeting process, with Product to understand performance of new and existing product, and with Sales and Marketing to support campaign planning and execution.

Alongside the core commercial function, you will lead and advise on a number of projects, some of which include implementation of a new reservations system, creation of a Groupwide data lake, broadening our distribution to include both Trade and international source markets, and the continued move to a full e-commerce model with the delivery of a new website.

Much has been done to kick start the move to Vision 2030 over the last 2 years in the team but there is still a ton of scope to put your stamp on a growing business and team to set us up for success.

  • Take ownership of the Commercial team, core trading processes and reporting to support the planned business growth.
  • Own and review pricing processes and on-sale timelines to drive efficiencies and growth.
  • Establish dynamic pricing/fluid margin management systems and best practice processes to sit alongside our traditional processes.
  • Support the adoption and integration of new third-party bed and transport providers as part of the delivery of our new reservations platform.
  • Drive awareness of market, competitor, and internal trends within the business, identifying new revenue opportunities for the business, and informing future strategy.
  • Lead the quarterly and annual budget review process of forecasting sales alongside the Head of Finance. You will produce clear targets and be accountable for the delivery of these targets.
  • Work with Finance to maintain correct costing assumptions (exchange rates, new season rate assumptions, inflation, etc.).
  • Utilise technology and MI to remove manual processes and evolve/streamline all commercial processes (Trading, Selling System, etc.). You will possess a strong understanding of the IT development process and have experience of leading projects as a business stakeholder.
  • Supplier management and contracting for third party providers (e.g. rail, car hire and bedbanks) and Trade distribution partners.
  • A sound understanding of how tour operator teams interact and the interdependencies between the teams that can deliver success.
  • As well as the Commercial and Data teams, your remit will cover the Inventory team who load and maintain all holiday information and itineraries into our reservation system.
  • Excellent communication with all stakeholders (internal and external) and a genuine commitment to fostering mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Work closely with your peers in Product, Marketing, and Sales in particular to deliver effective strategies for growth and differentiation through the product portfolio and promotional and tactical activity.
  • Own the weekly trading meeting process.


Inntravel needs an agile Commercial leader. Someone skilled around trading and revenue generation, but willing to own, review and lead our long-term commercial strategy.

  • An innate desire to improve business processes and achieve targets.
  • You are confident in working with data and have experience of building out data into reporting.
  • Experience of leading and developing a commercial team to a place of high performance within a growing tour operator. 
  • You have experience of leading teams through change.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and land key messages. 
  • You’re passionate about translating numbers into stories for the business to work with.
