Due to rapid expansion, the Albatross Group is looking for a new General Manager/Head of Albatross Motoring to head up its motoring business - Albatross Motoring

Established more than 10 years ago under the brand Scenic Car Tours, Albatross Motoring now operates under several brands with three elements to the business: scheduled car tours (escorted and non-escorted), bespoke tours aimed at car clubs and motoring groups, and motoring events.

The General Manager / Head of Albatross Motoring has overall responsibility for the leadership and development of Albatross Motoring; the delivery of its business plan, including overseeing key customer and supplier relationships; delivering or exceeding annual budget expectations in terms of sales, gross trading profit, overheads and net operating profit; and leading the business in line with the Albatross Group Purpose, Ambition and The Albatross Way.

The successful candidate will have good commercial acumen and be a strong leader with a proven track record in managing, developing and motivating teams.

Reporting directly to the Co-CEO and playing a key role in the Group's UK leadership team, the role is based at our offices in Larkfield, Kent, although due to the nature of the business, weekends away at working on motoring events, on tour or attending shows is part of the job.

Major Responsibilities (core areas of work)

  • Overarching responsibility for all sales, marketing, new product development and operational activities undertaken by Albatross Motoring.
  • Delivery of the Albatross Motoring annual budget as agreed with the Group Board.
  • The development, communication and delivery of a compelling medium and long-term ambition and business plan for the business, that is continually refreshed and kept both relevant and deliverable.
  • The consistent and effective management and leadership of the Albatross Motoring team including resource planning, organisation and the implementation rotas for events.
  • Forward planning of trade shows, events and escorted tours included attendance as required and appropriate
  • Planning and resourcing out of office customer support via the 24/7 emergency phone.
  • To collaborate with other brands or teams as required to deliver the Albatross Motoring business plan and support the Group Ambition.
  • Play an active part of the Group’s Head of Department leadership team including contributing to meetings, engaging in personal and professional development, meeting deadlines, providing input, seeking advice and sharing learnings.
  • To be an ambassador of the Group’s Ambition, Purpose and The Albatross Way, fulfilling the role of Head of Department across all teams if required and in the absence of other leaders.
  • Encouraging all colleagues to share knowledge, best practice and information, reinforcing that the Albatross Group is “Stronger Together”.

What does Success Look Like?

  • Delivering annual budget in terms of sales, gross trading profit, overhead and net operating profit
  • Delivery of the Albatross Motoring team business plan in support of the Albatross Group Ambition.
  • Demonstrable track-record of leading in The Albatross Way.
  • Team engagement/eNPS scores are at or above 70%.
